Best and Worst Cereal to Eat

Eat this... Not that

Not all Cereal is created equal, but many are filled with carbs and sugar. 

 

  1. Eat this: Freedom Foods Barley+ Toasted Muesli actually contains real, and natural antioxidants coming from its fruits, nuts, and non-gmo whole grains. It contains 3 different types of fiber including prebiotics and 3 grams of added sugar with 8 grams of protein to keep you satisfied. 
    NOT THAT: Kellogg's Smart Start Antioxidant cereal: made with synthetic multivitamins, you are better off just having a piece of fruit. It contains 14 grams of sugar and 43! grams of total carbs. It has artificial coloring (yellow) and is filled with 4 different types of sugar!

  2.  Eat this: Lydia's Sprouted Berry Crunch: has only 5 grams of sugar and 11 grams protein; is non-gmo made with real organic dried berries
    NOT THAT Captain Crunch Berries has several different types of food dyes and 1 cup has 16 grams of sugar and 1 gram of fiber
     vs.
  3. Eat this: Cascadian Farms O's is made with Organic Whole grain oats and barley, and contains absolutely NO BHT! It contains ONLY 1 gram sugar for 1.25 cups (-13 grams less than Cheerios) and still has 3 grams of natural protein.
    NOT THAT: Cheerios Protein Oats and Honey contains soybean crisps and corn which is genetically modified and can cause antibiotic resistance. It also contains plenty of sugar, BHT and caramel coloring, which is an endocrine disruptor. 1 cup ONLY has 6 grams Protein (even though they label it as a protein cereal), 34 grams of total carbs and 14 grams total sugars.

  4. Eat this: Ezekiel Cinnamon Raisin is vegan and made with EVERYTHING organic...organic raisins, sprouted lentils, sprouted wheat, sprouted barley, sprouted spelt, sprouted organic soybeans, cinnamon and sea salt...that is it! It does have 41 grams of carbs but has 8 grams of natural sugars (from raisins) and 5 grams of fiber and 7 grams protein.
    NOT THAT: Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a sugar bomb to say the least. Just touching it can rub a gram of 2 of sugar on to your finger tips.. It may contain "real cinnamon" but it has loads of other junk like sugar, fructose, maltodextrin and dextrose (all sneaky little names of unhealthy sugars). It also has canola oil which causes inflammation, trisodium phosphate which is a chemical grade stain remover and degreaser, BHT for freshness (which is linked to endocrine disorders and cancer).

  5. Eat this: Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice Cereal is much healthier than cocoa pebbles and rice krispies because it contains ONLY 3 simple ingredients.... which is rare to find in ALMOST ALL CEREALS! It contains brown rice, brown rice syrup and sea salt with less than 1 gram of sugar per serving and 25 grams of total carbs with 2 grams of protein. It is non-gmo and organic certified as well.
    NOT THAT: Cocoa Krispies Rice Krispies Cereal with sugar being its second main ingredient, be concerned with the rest of the 14+ ingredients listed. It also contains hydrogenated oil (cottonseed and soybean oil).
